Collective worship has a big impact on school life. It is a joyful, reflective, spiritual and affirming experience which is distinctively Christian and deeply rooted in the vision.

Right to Withdraw from Religious Education (RE)

Religious Education (RE) is an important part of our curriculum at Risby CEVC Primary School and reflects our Christian character, while supporting pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding of a range of religions and worldviews.

Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE).

If you are considering withdrawing your child from RE, we encourage you to speak with the Headteacher in the first instance. This provides an opportunity to discuss our RE curriculum, the content being taught and any questions or concerns you may have.

Parents and carers do not have to provide a reason for requesting withdrawal. If, following discussion, you wish to withdraw your child from all or part of RE, please make your request in writing to the Headteacher.

Where a pupil is withdrawn from RE, the school will make appropriate arrangements for them during the relevant lessons or activities.

The right to withdraw from RE is separate from the right to withdraw from collective worship. Please contact the Headteacher if you would like further information about either of these rights.
